Reform Or Die 2: 8 Solutions For This Immigration Love Story To Live Happily Ever After
Oh yes, we’re at it again. The first time we met in Reform or Die Parte Uno: An Immigration Love Story, the opposing views on Immigration and Border Security were laid out, the Super Bowl adversaries were lined up, and the battle lines were drawn. However, there happen to be solutions in the middle. Is it possible that Yankees and Red Sox can shake hands and agree? Unlikely.
Then again, just because there is similarities and allusions to sports does not make it either the same or impossible.
The Inquisitr reports that the President is set to empirically take the illegal immigration issue into his own hands, so we might want to start working now, if we have not already.
So, without further ado, let us explore some solutions.
Here are Eight potential ways to fix the immigration and border Issue…
8) Work with bordering nations
6) Cut personnel in world-wide bases, Bring troops home…
Leave the necessary numbers of soldiers to protect embassies. That’s it. Utilize veterans as workers in immigration offices on the border. We keep hearing Big Rs and Big Ds pounding the drum beat of terror. Loan-wolf attacks are coming and terror cells in the country now, so why do spend all of our resources overseas?
Another thing, why are still protecting countries that have been at peace for decades after the conflict ended?
That is a topic for another article. I digress.
5) FIX THE ECONOMY!
Reform welfare. Do not allow non-citizens to have any welfare or taxpayer-funded goodies. Reform healthcare and various government programs. Abolish regulations. Cut Taxes. Go through it all, line by line. There is far too much to include in one PowerPoint-like slide, but that is why we elect/hire people to do this.
It’s a lengthy list… tell them to Get moving!
4) Get the illegal immigrants out the shadows with…
Offer them a path to citizenship, but with fines and back taxes to penalize the lawbreakers. Deport any who will not agree to those terms.
Just because everyone should be allowed to come, and we need to do something with those who are here, does not mean they get a free pass. It is not fair to everyone waiting in line, in the midst of our broken system.
Imagine how you feel when that chuckle head cuts you off on the road, or gets ahead of you in line at the concert. Yeah it is like that.
Well, a little worse.
3) Set up immigration stations on the borders
Perhaps where some of the border patrol outposts are, we can convert them into these stations. Our immigration system functioned with Ellis Island, so why not have border stations for the sake of border security and legal immigration.
We should be cautious not to raise or create more taxes to accomplish this. We rarely do, but should reallocate finances from revenue already taken in. The outposts, or immigration stations, Increase jobs and help the immigration mess. Returning soldiers and veterans can find work defending our borders.
Those protesting for jobs and minimum wage hikes, as CBS Detroit reported on, can take care of their families better wit this job. Mickey-Ds, not so much.
2) Work with the states to accomplish the above goals.
We need to restrain the heavy hand of government. Just because it is in their job description, doesn’t mean they should go it alone. There should be cooperation between federal and state to accomplish any goals. Otherwise, there is no way we will ever come to a solution.
This quells the feuds between the states and D.C., and creates a better working relationship. Cooperation is key. It is preferable not to regress to a time where America split, in part, over states’ rights.
So, unless you prefer the heavy tyrannical hand of Washington, D.C. squashing States’ Rights to get what it wants, there needs to be cooperation.
1) A Blend of ‘public’ and ‘private’ is essential…
… to funding and spending. Spending should be reduced in other areas to pay for Immigration and Border Security reforms. We are overburdened financially, so we should not shell out more money we do not have.
We should utilize what we have more efficiently, combined with private options, reallocation and cuts to unneeded areas. This is generally what need to do anyways. So, in fixing immigration, we can fix the economy.
Instead of breaking the piggy bank, we can kill two birds… or something like that.
0) It is up to US to make it work
The list is not exhaustive, but it’s a start; an icebreaker. Take this or your own ideas to congress. Call. Write. Protest. Harass them until they hear us. This is just a blueprint or a collections of general ideas. Heaven knows, we have yet to get that far with our politicians…
