Faith No More – Blistering New Track ‘Motherf***er’ Released – Listen Now NSFW

We’ve heard nothing from Faith No More since 1998 – when the undefineable group disbanded. Sure, we’ve listed to Mike Patton howl and whisper and sing as only Patton can via his solo projects including Mr. Bungle and Peeping Tom, but we’ve longed for the combination of Patton, Roddy Bottum, Billy Gould and Mike “Puffy” Bordin. (Jim Martin has long been MIA since his appearance on the critically-acclaimed Angel Dust.)

When the band left us, they at least left a note as to why on the Faith No More website.

“After 15 long and fruitful years, Faith No More have decided to put an end to speculation regarding their imminent break up… by breaking up. The decision among the members is mutual, and there will be no pointing of fingers, no naming of names, other than stating, for the record, that ‘Puffy started it.’ Furthermore, the split will now enable each member to pursue his individual project(s) unhindered. Lastly, and most importantly, the band would like to thank all of those fans and associates that have stuck with and supported the band throughout its history.”

And that was that. Still, there was always a sense that Faith No More had left something unfinished. It still felt like they had more to offer. Expectation and desire grew from the fan base of the world’s most underrated band. Rumors spilled around the internet.

“Faith No More are touring together in some South American country.”

“Faith No More is talking about one last American reunion tour.”

And finally, the rumor we all wished for.

“Faith No More is getting back together.”

The band finally confirmed that last one, and fans were elated.

Faith No More has released their new track, “Motherf***er”, ahead of the release of their eighth studio album. The band is reportedly recording the album in their own Oakland, California studio. Billy Gould is producing, and the album will be released on their own label imprint, Reclamation Records.

Roddy Bottum, the band’s keyboardist, talked about “Motherf***er” being the first track to be released to Rolling Stone.

“It feels apt that the first track we’re releasing is ‘Motherf***er,‘ a song about accountability. Basically we’ve created, recorded and mixed a new body of work by ourselves and we’re releasing it on our own label. It’s a huge deal for us to only have ourselves to answer to at this point in our career and the song is about that, where the buck stops via the basic imagery of foie gras production, bondage… y’know, stuff like that.”
