Would You Live In A House Like This? Be Warned, It Has An Amazingly Weird Secret

A quaint and homely three-bedroom house, which is on the market to rent in the U.K., has one massive and striking secret the estate agents have seemingly forgotten to tell interested parties about.

What could it be, one wonders? What could be possibly so problematic that it’s almost guaranteed to deter prospective tenants from signing on the dotted line for even the briefest of tenures?

Is the property haunted by a particularly playful and energetic poltergeist who has made all the previous inhabitants’ lives a living hell? Or perhaps the house was once the home of dark deeds and darker characters, thus rendering it somewhat unappealing to anyone looking for a fresh start or new beginning.

Or could it be perhaps, that the house is simply built on a fault line, situated in an era riddled with crime and violence, or sits slap band next door to a hugely popular and well known brothel.

Who knows? Well we do, so please stick around and all will be revealed. Let’s just say, there’s a lot more to this old fashioned house in Oxford than meets the eye. Just as you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, nor should you always judge a house by pictures on property sites.

The Mirror reports that at first glance this three-bedroom house, advertised on Zooplaboasts two reception rooms and en-suite facilities in all bedrooms, is not dissimilar to other commuter properties in the Headington area of the sleepy university town.

For £2,250 a month, punters can expect a rather tasteful, spacious, and well designed living room for all the family to enjoy and relax in.

And then there’s the beautiful and homely dining room for everyone to unwind and enjoy mum’s home cooking.

Let’s not forget the kitchen, which has all the mod cons and appliances to keep mum happy when she’s frying the steak and peeling the potatoes.

Yet there’s just one thing we failed to mention. Visitors to the property will also be impressed, or mortified, by the unique period feature which makes the front of the house so striking – and here it is.

That’s right captain! It is a massive shark sticking out of the roof. Something Zoopla suspiciously decided to omit in their description of the property.

How did a 25-foot-long shark end up nose first in a three-bedroomed house in Oxford you ask? Well, it didn’t fall from the sky, it was placed there by the property’s American owner, Bill Heine, in 1986 and it’s been there ever since.

Bill, who studied law in the hallowed halls of the town’s prestigious university, placed the “Headington Shark,” created by sculptor John Buckley, in the roof of his house to express his discontent with society.

“The shark was to express someone feeling totally impotent and ripping a hole in their roof out of a sense of impotence and anger and desperation. It is saying something about CND, nuclear power, Chernobyl and Nagasaki.”

So there you have it. Do you concur with Bill’s sentiments, or do you just see a roof with a shark sticking out of it. More importantly, would you live in this Jaws-themed property?
