Shashonna From ‘Girls’ Has A Rap Career As Zosia Mamet [Video]

Shoshanna, Zosia Mamet’s character from the hit cable series, Girls, might just be one of the most painfully endearing television characters of all time. But nothing that Zosia has done on the HBO show can rival the cringe-fest that came earlier last week when the internet was convinced that Zosia had initially made a play at a rap career before coming around to her career as an actress. Jezebel was among the websites initially fooled by the prank.

In 2013, she tried unsuccessfully to use Kickstarter to fund a music video project with her sister. Apparently, before trying the folk music thing she was dabbling in rap. It’s unclear if she dropped out of the rap game to pursue more acting or if some loving friend just took her aside and said “please, please don’t ever, ever do this again.” Hey, at least our tipster seemed to think her rap skills were pretty decent.”

According to Thought Catalog, the video actually seems to be a viral video to promote her upcoming series, Rhymes with Banana. The whole stunt sounds kind of planned, especially considering how good her father David Mamet is at constructing a narrative. You couldn’t put it past an actress of this pedigree.
