Frank Miller on OWS: ‘Go Back to Your Mommas’ Basements!”

Unless you’re comic book guy, you might not know who Frank Miller is, or why anyone cares that he thinks that America has been “too polite” to the Occupy Wall Street protesters.

Miller is a comic book artist, and a well-known and until recently, fairly well-regarded one. Responsible for Ronin, The Dark Knight Returns, Sin City and 300, it seems odd that a comic book legend such as Miller would strike out at basement dwellers, but he has, and loudly.

Miller seems to have conflated the Occupy Wall Street movement and related protests breaking out around the United States and globally with some kind of sympathy for… Muslims? Or terrorists? It’s difficult to tell from his whargarrbl-filled rant against the demonstrators, but this dude is mad about something. He starts off saying that the movement presents a danger to America, though he fails to express how:

The “Occupy” movement, whether displaying itself on Wall Street or in the streets of Oakland (which has, with unspeakable cowardice, embraced it) is anything but an exercise of our blessed First Amendment. “Occupy” is nothing but a pack of louts, thieves, and rapists, an unruly mob, fed by Woodstock-era nostalgia and putrid false righteousness. These clowns can do nothing but harm America.

Miller continued, exhorting “pond scum” protesters to “wake up” and “stop getting in the way of working people and find jobs for themselves” in his blog post:

Maybe, between bouts of self-pity and all the other tasty tidbits of narcissism you’ve been served up in your sheltered, comfy little worlds, you’ve heard terms like al-Qaeda and Islamicism… In the name of decency, go home to your parents, you losers. Go back to your mommas’ basements and play with your Lords Of Warcraft.

You can read Frank Miller’s full OWS rant here- do you agree with him, or are you on the side of the demonstrators?
