‘Orange Is The New Black’s’ Lea DeLaria Goes Off On NYC Subway Preacher [Video]
Orange Is The New Black’s very own Big Boo turned the heat up on a random subway preacher in New York City on Tuesday morning. The actress, whose real name is Lea DeLaria, wasn’t going to keep quiet when a man started to preach from the bible and specifically referenced to the “sin of homosexuality.”
Thanks to TMZ, there’s footage of DeLaria confronting the preacher ranting about the “sin of homosexuality” as it relates to the bible. Usually, when a preacher takes a stand and uses a public place of transportation as his or her soap box, they are ignored in New York City. DeLaria wasn’t about to hear this preacher’s message and let their beliefs dictate hers or the other passengers on the train.
The Orange Is The New Black star was heard on the other side of the train, coming in and out of the smart phone’s frame until she made her way to the preacher and became visible.
“You have no right! Go to another train,” Lea shouted passionately.
“Get off this train. Other people believe other things and have every right to believe other things on this planet and in this world. We do not have to be force-fed this man’s religious beliefs. Jesus never said for you to do this — ever!”
For the most part, the preacher ignored DeLaria but was trying to preach over her voice, and as the video goes on, his voice becomes louder in hopes to drown out her message.
Fortunately this didn’t seem to faze the star as she defended herself. “Don’t come at me because I went to f**king Catholic school for 12 years and I know every line.”
So far Lea hasn’t said anything about the incident on the subway, but our guess is that she’s said everything that needed to be said to the preacher.
She did however retweet some support.
