Cameron Diaz Talks Singing Lessons For ‘Annie’ Musical Remake With Jamie Foxx, Set to Host ‘SNL’ [Video]

Cameron Diaz knows that the sun will come out tomorrow after hearing the chorus from Annie way too many times in rehearsals for her upcoming movie. Playing the role of Miss Hannigan, Diaz has been publicizing the new version of the family film on talk shows. And now, to add buzz to the box office, Cameron has confirmed that she will host Saturday Night Live in November, reported Entertainment Weekly.

Joining Diaz for her appearance on Nov. 22 are musical guests Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson. This will be the first time that she has hosted since 2005.

Co-star Jamie Foxx joined Diaz on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday to discuss what was involved in remaking the musical Annie. The two previously co-starred in the film Any Given Sunday early in their career, directed by Oliver Stone.

Cameron Diaz recalls the naked episode in the men’s locker room fondly, revealed the Hollywood Reporter.

“We were just babies. Oliver was like, ‘You know you have to shake all of their hands because they’re your players.’ I was like, ‘This is so crazy!’ They are all walking around holding themselves naked. By the time I go to the end of the line though, I had some hand sanitizer.”

But making a musical required very different skills for Diaz. She confessed that she was nervous and took singing lessons to develop the vocal chops needed for the role.

“I sang in My Best Friend’s Wedding. That was more true to my voice. But that’s my karaoke voice, you see. I had to actually have a voice for this song, for this film. I did a lot of training — as much as I could!”

Foxx emphasized his enthusiasm for making a family-friendly film. He also discussed his daughter, Corinne Foxx, who recently became a model. Jamie joked that now she can support herself.

Also joining Foxx and Diaz on the talk show was young Quvenzhané Wallis, who plays the title role in the new film version of Annie. Set to release on Dec. 19, according to IMDB, the movie also stars Cameron as mean foster mommy Miss Hannigan, Foxx as tough tycoon Will Stacks, and Rose Byrne in the role of Jamie’s VP.

For Cameron Diaz, the role shows her multi-dimensional talents. As the Inquisitr reported, she has collaborated with the designer brand Pour La Victoire since 2013.
