Duncan the Dog Dies After Saving Owner From Fire [Video]
As a large fire started to consume a house in Georgia, Duncan the Dog rushed in to wake his owner. The Boxer alerted his owner, Scott Dunn, who was able to safely evacuate his home in Mariatta, Georgia.
Duncan the Dog wasn’t so lucky.
According to CBS, Duncan slipped out of his collar and rushed back into the house. Dunn tried to follow to save his dog but the fire was too hot.
Dunn said:
“[Neighbours] told me not to, and I said I had to get Duncan. When I got in the door, it was too hot and I couldn’t go in. I tried to go in, but I couldn’t.”
After the fire was put out, firefighters retrieved the remains of Duncan the Dog. The Daily Mail reports that the three-and-a-half year-old dog was buried in Dunn’s backyard.
A distraught Dunn said:
“You wouldn’t recognise him, but I still leaned down, gave him a hug and gave him a kiss, and four or five of the fire department guys started crying, but I wasn’t going to let my boy go out like that. That’s my boy.”

My prayers and thoughts are with him. I know the pain of losing a great dog and I just wish I could give him a hug. God please give Duncan a giant biscuit, a shady tree to lie under, lots of cool water and peace until his daddy gets there to join him.. Amen

OMG. I am so sorry for your loss. I hope you can get your life back together. Duncan will be blessed in doggie heaven, I just know it. He is a true hero. As I am at work, crying for your dog, I will say my prayers tonight for you.

God gave you Duncun for that reason he was your angel they are our protectors and that day he was no longer your compainon but your lifeline. He has a place in Heaven now and will greet you one day.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. This just breaks my heart. When I read and watched the video I just cried. I wish I could take his pain away. Duncan is watching down on you. You will see him again.

I am sorry for the loss of Duncan, what a wonderful firend he was. I consider my dogs my best friends and my kids. It is so hard to lose a pet, he saved your life that was the ultimate act of love. Prayers for you!

I've had my Cocker Spaniel for 11yrs and I'm sitting here bawling my eyes out crying, & praying I never have to go through this type of loss, the way you had to Scott. Your friendship between your dog Duncan was special, and watching the video of you, was just heartbreaking. Scott, just know Duncan was doing what any loving & loyal family member or friend would do for each other. Boxers are a loving & loyal breed, and Duncan proved that all the way to the end. Well this is the saddest story ever! I wonder why he ran back… the fact he died on his owners bed is heart breaking. He couldn't find his way out and he went to where he was most secure. My heart goes out to Scott and I'm sorry for what he went through…

omg I am crying like a baby. What a great pet this dog was. My prayers go out Duncan and Scott. I don't know what I would do if my dog passed. This is a hard story to hear but it just shows the world that dogs are really man's best friend!

Duncan the Dog, you are my hero! When you get to Heaven, please look up my boxers, Ginger and Hi-Sox! They were my best friends in the whole wide world and will show you around. Have fun and I know you will be waiting for your friend. No greater love than that of one's own life sacrificed for another. Good dog!
