Puppy Found In Pocket Of Drug Dealer During Massachusetts Bust

While Lawrence, Massachusetts police were patting down a drug dealer during arrest, they found a special surprise. A three-week-old American pit bull terrier was found in the pocket of an alleged drug dealer during the bust.

According to WCVB, the pit bull puppy was found in the alleged drug dealer’s pocket during his arrest, and it was turned over to Lawrence Animal Control, which later gave it to the PittieLove Rescue for ownership. The puppy was brought to BluePearl Veterinary Partners Wednesday night because she was vomiting and had diarrhea, which is a potentially life-threatening condition after being separated from her mother so young.

Dr. Jamie Resnick, an emergency doctor at BluePearl, told the Boston Globe that the puppy’s condition was grim when it arrived. However, thanks to lots of love and care, the puppy, which has been aptly named Pocket, is expected to make a full recovery. Resnick said the puppy will be released to a foster family on Friday.

“She’s been eating ravenously today. If she makes it through these initial problems, she should hopefully go on to lead a good life. It just seems like she was dealt a bad hand in the first part of her life.”

PittieLove Rescue is the organization that will be handling tiny Pocket’s adoption and fostering. According to the organization’s website, they are completely run by volunteers.

“PittieLove Rescue Inc. is a 501(c) (3) non profit organization based in Massachusetts. We are an all-volunteer, foster home-based rescue devoted exclusively to the care, understanding and adoption of the American Pit Bull Terrier. As one of the most abused and misunderstood breeds of all time PittieLove’s number one goal is for our rescued dogs to never suffer from neglect or abuse again, carefully placing them into loving homes where they will be Ambassadors for the breed.”

It appears that though Pocket’s life started out rough, the puppy is now in the caring hands of an organization that will do their best to ensure she finds a forever home with someone who will care for her.

Another pit bull puppy in Virginia is alive thanks to fantastic veterinary care after being found stabbed over 20 times and left for dead. A man stabbed the puppy and then tossed him in the woods to die. Fortunately someone spotted the pup near the tree line of an apartment complex and authorities were able to get to the dog in time to save him.
