Joe Giudice Rejects Plea Deal — At Least For Now

Joe Giudice appeared in court on Wednesday to address his false identification case. During his appearance, the Real Housewives of New Jersey star rejected a plea deal which would have resolved the charges. However, during questioning, Joe didn’t seem confident in his decision.

Joe “had second thoughts Wednesday when faced with the decision to go to trial,” Page Six reported on Oct. 15. “A lawyer for Joe Giudice announced in court Wednesday that his client was turning down a deal that would have resolved false identification charges. But when questioned by the judge about the decision, Giudice appeared to waver and the hearing was put on hold while Giudice conferred with his lawyer.”

After being arrested and charged with DUI in 2010, Joe Giudice’s driver’s license was suspended. Following the suspension, Joe reportedly obtained a new driver’s license using his brother’s information. Once police discovered Joe’s alleged trickery, he was charged with unlawful use of an ID, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years, and impersonation, which carries a maximum sentence of 18-months.

The plea deal offered to Joe Giudice on this case would have allowed him to plead guilty to impersonation and serve an 18-month sentence, concurrent with his 41-month sentence, which he received on Oct. 2.

During his and Teresa’s sentencing earlier this month for charges of bankruptcy and loan fraud, Joe received 41 months behind bars, and Teresa received 15 months. The judge on their case stated Teresa would serve her sentence first, beginning on Jan. 5, while Joe would enter into his term once her sentence was complete.

Joe Giudice’s latest sentence, which he may receive later today, will be added to his 41 months, according to a prior report by The Inquisitr.

“Questioned by attorney Miles Feinstein in front of state Superior Court Judge Adam Jacobs on Wednesday, Joe indicated he would reject the plea offer and proceed to trial. But when Jacobs addressed Giudice directly and reiterated that he wouldn’t be able to change his mind and accept the plea offer Wednesday, Giudice declined to give his approval and court was recessed until the afternoon,” Page Six claimed.

As The Inquisitr reported, Joe Giudice has been spending time away from the family as he awaits his next court appearance.

“The last place he wants to be is home with Teresa in the house of horrors,” a friend told Radar Online on Oct. 15. “He felt intense pressure from Teresa over the years to provide her with an over the top lifestyle, and the house is just a horrible reminder of that. When Joe does come home, it’s very late at night and things are very tense between the two of them.”

Joe Giudice is currently seen on The Real Housewives of New Jersey‘s sixth season every Sunday night on Bravo at 8 p.m.
