Jerrod Niemann Ties The Knot In Puerto Rico

Jerrod Niemann is officially off the market ladies! That’s right; the country singer has finally tied the knot with longtime girlfriend, Morgan Petek.

Jerrod Niemann’s rep confirmed to US Weekly that the couple said “I do” at sunset this past Sunday, October 12 in Puerto Rico. The couple’s ceremony reportedly took place overlooking the Atlantic Ocean from the top of the historical Spanish fort, Castillo de San Cristobal.

“I’m looking forward to seeing what the world has in store for us as a married couple,” Niemann, 35, tells PEOPLE.

The couple was engaged last October in New Orleans according to PEOPLE. The “Drink To That All Night” singer had some very romantic plans to surprise Petek with the proposal while out on a carriage ride, but Niemann ended up having to make a new plan up on the spot.

“We were walking over to Jackson Square, and we turn the corner and see, like, 13 carriages just waiting for someone to rent them,” the country singer told PEOPLE at the time. “So I’m like, ‘Hey, you want to take a ride?’ She’s like, ‘Nah. Horses are supposed to be in pastures, not walking the streets of New Orleans!’ I just thought, ‘Oh, crap!’ I was literally frantic.”

While Niemann may have been frantic, it didn’t take long for him to devise a new plan.

“We walked over to this statue in Jackson Square, and I just turned to these ladies and said, ‘Would you be kind enough to take our picture? I think we might be getting engaged,'” said Niemann. “Morgan was like, ‘What?’ Then I took out the ring. Morgan was crying; the ladies were crying… It was a cool moment.”

According to US Weekly, while the wedding and proposal may have been two beautiful moments in the couple’s lives, that doesn’t mean that they haven’t had their difficult times over the years. When asked about how Niemann and Petek made things work through the years, he replied saying that he keeps in mind that “everybody has pasts.”

“We’ve all made mistakes. If you can’t get past somebody else’s past or their mistakes, it’s never gonna work.”

According to The Boot, the couple asked that their 100 or so guests not give them wedding gifts, but to instead make a donation to Free the Music USA, a non-profit Niemann established in April that provides musical instruments to children who can’t afford them and that also donates to music-based charities.
