Daniel Radcliffe Brings His Magic To ‘Now You See Me 2’

Daniel Radcliffe is bringing his unique brand of cinematic magic to the upcoming sequel to the surprise hit Now You See Me.

Director Louis Leterrier’s thriller, which stars Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine, was the sleeper hit of the summer movie season last year. Not surprisingly, the folks over at Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment are busy putting together a follow-up, which brings the talented cast together for another magical outing.

According to The Guardian, Daniel Radcliffe is joining the cast of the sequel. The website explains that the Harry Potter star will portray Michael Caine’s son in the follow-up. Unfortunately, there’s where the details of his role begin and end.

Michael Caine revealed Radcliffe’s involvement with the flick during a brief chat with Hey You Guys. The veteran actor seems amusing with Daniel’s casting.

“There’s a sequel to Now You See Me and we’re shooting in London. I shoot in December, the whole of December in London, and my son is Harry Potter. I thought it’d be funny, me and Daniel Radcliffe as father and son.”

Since director Louis Leterrier is busy with producer Michael Bay’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise, rumor has it that he won’t return for the Now You See Me sequel. Instead, word on the street suggests that Jem and the Holograms director Jon M. Chu will step behind the camera for the follow-up.

Daniel Radcliffe is a pretty busy guy these days. In addition to portraying Michael Caine’s son in the aforementioned sequel, he recently starred in the romantic comedy What If and the upcoming horror flick Horns, the latter of which finds Radcliffe portraying a guy trying to unravel the mystery behind his girlfriend’s death.

Daniel admits that fans should prepare themselves for a pretty dark experience.

“It was both incredibly dark — like really dark and violent, and full of classic horror stuff — but also it has a very dry sense of humor. It’s a metamorphosis story, but the thing that excited me was that tonally it wasn’t like anything I had read.”
