Jeremy Renner On ‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron,’ More Hulk and Hawkeye

Jeremy Renner recently did two interviews where he addressed rumors about the upcoming Avengers: Age Of Ultron Movie, a Guardians of the Galaxy crossover, and his own possible Hawkeye spin-off movie series. The interviews will add fuel to growing speculation on the future of Marvel’s movie series.

One thing Renner confirmed for the Daily Beast is that Hawkeye and the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) will get more screen-time in Age of Ultron.

“Hulk has a more prominent role, and I have a more prominent role. There are a lot more scenes of the entire Avengers gang together—both in and out of the cape, so to speak. It’s making me become a total fanboy. It’s pretty fun to be a part of.”

As for the rumors of a Guardians of the Galaxy to Avengers cross-over, Renner seemed enthusiastic.

“That would be awesome. I think that would be awesome. Of course that’s the hopes with the puppeteers behind Marvel, but we’ll see, man. We’ll see…”

Fans will have to wait for Avengers 3 for that. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Dave Bautista, the actor behind Drax the Destroyer, is renegotiating his contract with Marvel so he’d be available for a Avengers cross-over. Marvel watchers speculate that Drax will be there to help the Avengers fight Thanos, the villain who killed Drax’ family. Thanos is a far cry from Ultron though, the villain slated for Avengers 2 (obvious from the title Age of Ultron).

Ultron will be the creation of Tony Stark, which may even put the superhero’s life in danger.

As for the Hawkeye spin-off movies, it is part of Renner’s contract.

“I signed on to The Avengers 1-3 and then Hawkeye, in case they want to do a Hawkeye spin-off.”

Jeremy Renner touched on a few other criticisms and rumors in a separate interview with Starpulse. Some fans have pointed out that the Marvel movie universe has been a little too male-dominated and female characters often play as background to the male-driven storylines. Hawkeye agrees that there needs to be more female characters,

“I absolutely agree. I love strong female characters, and I think it’s really important…you need to strike a good balance between the men and women in a movie, because that’s when things really ignite.”

Renner also added that he has no idea about appearing in Captain America 3.

“Oh, that’s a rumour all right! I don’t know what’s going to happen. I know it’s going to start shooting in March. I haven’t had any official conversations about doing it or not.”

Avengers: Age of Ultron will be in theatres May 2015.
