John Stamos’ Mother Loretta Phillips Dies At 75: Actor Posts Heartbreaking Message


John Stamos’ mother, Loretta Phillips, has died. The 75-year-old passed away Monday night according to Entertainment Tonight. The Full House actor was extremely close to his mom, and this loss has left him completely heartbroken. He posted the following message on Instagram along with the throwback photo beneath it.

“The love of my life passed away yesterday in her home surrounded by her children and grandchildren. My mother had enough love to fuel a small country. She was truly one of a kind and will live forever in the hearts of all who knew her. A few weeks ago, I asked my mom if she remembered an inconsequential event – she simply replied, ‘I only remember the love.’ #Brokenhearted #Iloveyouthemost.”

John Stamos’ mother started a foundation called The Vanguard Cancer Foundation after her brother, Jake, was told that he had untreatable cancer. John has asked that people donate to the foundation in his mother’s honor. People have been visiting the site, which you can visit here, and making donations, keeping John and his mom in their thoughts.

According to People Magazine, Loretta Phillips wrote the following message about the foundation that she started, and how it will help others, just like it helped her brother. He survived his terminal diagnosis.

“Thirteen years ago, I held my brother’s hand as a doctor told him that his cancer was untreatable. As I think back to that moment, I realize just how many people would have accepted that diagnosis and given up. Thankfully, Jake knew better… the Vanguard Cancer Foundation will be here, empowering patients to take the fight against cancer into their own hands.”

It is unknown what John Stamos’ mother died from. Details about her death were not available at the time of this report. What is clear is that John was extremely close to his mom, and her passing is very hard on him. It’s unknown if she had been sick or if her death was sudden, but John is going to really need some to time to heal from this tremendous loss. Through all of the ups and downs in his life, his mom was always there for him. As you can tell by him calling her “the love of [his] life,” there is going to be an emptiness in his heart for the rest of his life.
