NeNe Leakes is headed to Broadway. Us Weekly reports that Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes is set to take over the role of Madame in Rogers and Hammerstein’s Broadway show Cinderella, taking up where Sherri Shepherd will leave off from November 25 to January 3.
NeNe Leakes’ haters have said that she isn’t a real actor. However, securing a position in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Broadway show is quite an accomplishment, and her fans couldn’t be happier.
“Say what you want about NeNe, but Bish knows how to hustle.”
“She’s a Sagittarius, we know how to stretch and create opportunities.”
“NeNe is a smart biz woman. I don’t care what anyone says.”
Since it is rumored that her Bravo appearances may come to an end, NeNe Leakes is making sure that she is pursuing and taking advantage of all opportunities to secure her position as a real actress and a permanent fixture in Hollywood.
NeNe Leakes, aka Linnethia Monique Johnson, has gone on to appear in Glee as Coach Roz Washington, The New Normal from 2012—2013 as Rocky Rhoades, and in 2014’s “Zumanity” of Cirque du Soleil as ‘Mistress of Sensuality.
Though not listed in the IMDB, NeNe Leakes is said to have had minor roles as a stripper in 2003’s African-American movie The Fighting Temptations starring Beyonce, and in The Parkers in 2004. Real Housewives of Atlanta premiered for the first time on October 7, 2008 on Bravo, bringing Leakes into households all over the nation. During Season 1, she appeared alongside Tardy for the Party‘s Kim Zolciak and Shereè Whitfield.
This announcement comes on the heels of news that Keke Palmer will play the first Black or African American Cinderella in the same Broadway show, according to Examiner.
This won’t be good news for the Nene naysayers.
“Evil Stepmother….that’s the only role in this that she’s fitting to play.”
“Who better to play a towering wicked step mom better than NeNe Leakes.
“*Sigh* This is another thing she’ll brag about – these Broadway checks. Lawd. She will be insufferable.”
Leakes has stated in the past that she felt that people were trying to sabotage her career, as reported by Inquisitr.
