Girl Beat Up On Playground: Kindergarten Student Viciously Attacked, Sustains Severe Injuries

A 5-year-old girl was beat up on a playground at school so bad, that she sustained severe injuries. The incident happened Tuesday in Pascagoula, Mississippi.

Gulf Live reports that the student is Avalynn, as indicated on social media sites. Her mother, Lacey Harris, filed a police report Thursday alleging that another child kicked her daughter on the slide. Pascagoula Police Department Lt. Jim Roe says at this time “there’s no indication something criminal took place. I have spoken with school security and an assistant superintendent is investigating the matter.”

As photos clearly show, Avalynn has a number of contusions on her eyes and to the right-side of her face. She has excessive swelling that prevents her right eye from opening. The top of her lip is swollen as well.

A Justice For AvaLynn Facebook page has created as well as a GoFundMe.com account in an effort to help raise money to help cover her medical bills. A reported $1,000 was donated in one day. $5,000 has been raised on the GoFundMe page.

This is what the Facebook page reads:

“AvaLynn informed Lacey that she was assaulted by another student: that she was kicked repeatedly in the face until she fell off of the slide on the school’s playground. The school informed Lacey were no teachers present when the incident occurred, and because of that, no one could prove whether or not another student had harmed Ava.”

Harris also wrote:

“There is a need for repeat CT scans, specialist visits to an ENT, ophthalmologist and quite possible orthopedics for her little face.”

The Pascagoula School District issued this statement about the incident:

“A student was injured while playing on the playground at Arlington Elementary School Tuesday afternoon.School officials responded to the situation. The parent was contacted and the student received medical treatment. No other children were involved in the incident. The Pascagoula School District remains committed to the safety of all its students.”

Roe says the Pascagoula Police Department isn’t actively investigating the incident. The girl was beat up on the playground and it seems the matter is being handled as something kids do while at recess during school. The school is looking into the issue because this kind of “rough” treatment by kids can’t be tolerated. The kindergarten student’s mother wants to see better supervision on the playground since no seems to know what happened to her daughter.
