David Guetta And Taylor Swift Go Head To Head For Top Spot On Charts

David Guetta makes no bones about creating singles that shoot right to the top of the charts, both in the U.S. and abroad. But who is nipping at his heels this week? None other than Taylor Swift.

While Guetta’s newest single “Lovers on the Sun” has made a steady climb to dominate the number one spot on the singles chart, Taylor Swift’s new single “Shake It Off” is quickly vying for the top spot. According to Digital Spy, Taylor’s fun-loving anthem about dismissing haters is already standing strong in the number six spot just 24 short hours after it became available for purchase by the general public.

Swift’s single is from her fifth studio album, which is titled 1989 and is a determined pop cross-over hit that is well on its way to becoming the feel-good power anthem of the fall. Swift is also listed as part of the performers expected to put on a show at the MTV VMAs this weekend. Other artists billed for the show include Usher, 5 Seconds of Summer, Maroon 5, Beyonce, Sam Smith, (who recently worked with Guetta on his new single “Lovers on the Sun). Nicki Minaj is set to headline and will also perform with Jessie J and Ariana Grande.

Other new singles currently charting well include Union J are currently at six with “Tonight (We Live Forever),” Ed Sheeran is at nine with “Don’t,” while Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora continue to climb with “Black Widow” at 15.

Recently, David Guetta was listed as one of the top ten “Electronic Cash Kings” by Forbes magazine as he works feverishly to release his first new album since 2011. The French-born DJ has been touring extensively and has appeared on several compilations, but no new albums have been released since 2011. His previous three albums all went platinum, so his next album is expected to do well, although, reportedly, Guetta has run into problems and complications with getting the new material released.

In related news, the DJ superstar has recently announced plans to tour in India this December. According to India West, Guetta plans to play two dates while in India, in Delhi Dec. 19 and Bangalore Dec. 21. The venues of his performances are yet to be decided. Guetta was previously well-received in India when he visited in 2012.
