Can’t afford the $380K real car then how about a $4.8M model of that car?
I’m sorry but if that old phrase of more money than brains has any merit this is the story around which you could wrap that adage.
I mean sure it would be nice to be able to fork over $380,000; without even blinking, for a Lamborghini Aventador but if you can’t what makes you think that spending $4.8 million for a model of that same car makes any more sense.
I don’t car if it is a 1:8 scale model made by Robert Gülpen, a German engineer who specializes in making car models out of precious materials; and when I say precious materials I’m not kidding. Just take a look at what is a part of this model car:
- body, doors, and hood are made from carbon fiber with threads of solid gold
- the rims and interior are platinum and gold
- various gem stones are embedded into the construction
The parts list for the model alone is $2.7 million and the the doors open and close, the wheels turn, and the engine is detailed to look exactly like the real thing.
Gülpen’s site gives a suitably over-the-top description of the model. “Extreme and uncompromising, exclusive, sensual, and challenging, just like a real Lamborghini.” Just like a real Lamborghini, except that you can’t drive it.
The Aventador model will go up for auction with a starting price of $4.8 million. Around $680,000 of that will go to charity. It will be displayed under bullet-proof glass to protect the potential buyer’s investment.
