‘Grand Theft Auto V’ News: PS4 Release Date Confirmed, Plus DLC Updates

Rockstar Games employees may not know how to put out a hit record, but they sure do know how to put out an unbelievably successful & controversial video game.

They are also busy working on re-releasing Grand Theft Auto V for the batch of brand new consoles (PS4/Xbox One) and Windows PC. The three platform release will take place this fall, according to a press release put out by Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two Interactive.

“Announced that Grand Theft Auto V is planned for release this fall on PS4, Xbox One and PC, bringing across-the-board graphical and technical enhancements to the game’s already breathtaking open world experience. Current PS3 and Xbox 360 players will have the ability to transfer their Grand Theft Auto Online characters and progression to their choice of PS4, Xbox One or PC. All new content and gameplay created for both Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online will also be available for the PS4, Xbox One and PC with more to come,”

The Epoch Times reports that the next-gen console version of GTA V “will finally allow PC users to use mods” that have made the previous game infinitely enjoyable for many PC fans over the years.

Another interesting update is said to be DLC, or downloadable content, for game’s online component. GTA V’s online gameplay already allows multiple users to play in the wide-open world of Los Santos together and like never before. But trigger happy fans will have to be patient as this update is facing delays.

DomisLive’s YouTube channel, most beloved by GTA V fans for its strong track record of leaks, claims to have found a code for an Xbox One “DLC” pack called Heists. It’s not known at this time if that content will be exclusive to Microsoft’s console.

The update includes a few new playable characters including a “parachutist, sniper, hacker, hired gun, and leader.”

He’s got a lot more to say about the awesome new characters:

“The sniper is going to be amazing. Just imagine just sitting on one of these buildings so far away, having to snipe in through a window.”

But that’s not all… Heists may have one more surprise for GTA V gamers according to DomisLive.

“judging by the source code, it does SP, which means single player, but you never know, it could come to multiplaayer.”

Another DLC pack titled Veterans is being prepped for release as well.

What if you already own the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of GTA V? It’s not yet known if Sony and Microsoft will offer discounted next-generation game upgrades for those who currently own the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game. Previously, companies have offered $10 upgrades for hit titles such as Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Fifa 14, and Call of Duty: Ghosts. The full list of eligible titles was published on gaming news site Polygon, but all upgrade deals are long since expired.

The gameplay may be identical to the prior generation versions, but the graphical difference is ridiculously noticeable due to the increased memory, GPU, and processing power found in the PS4 and Xbox One.

Twitter user Carlos updated a comparison image of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas protagonist and banger Carl Johnson. The image contained CJ with the original PS2 graphics next to a modern high-defintion PS4 rendering. The newer console’s ability highlights just how immersive GTA V’s visuals will appear.

Redditor AlMiCo notes that CJ would be ten years older, hence the slightly altered appearance.
