Burger King’s ‘Proud Whopper’ Gets Strong Reactions (Video)

Burger King’s “Proud Whooper” was released just less than a week ago and already the burger is eliciting a wide range of reactions across social media.

According to USA Today, the “Proud Whooper” is not any different from the chain’s regular whopper.

“The Proud Whopper, as it’s called, comes wrapped in a rainbow colored wrapper with this inscription: ‘We are all the same inside.’ It will be sold through Thursday at one Burger King restaurant on San Francisco’s Market Street, that was at the heart of the route for last weekend’s 44th annual San Francisco Pride Celebration & Parade.”

Burger King eventually released an online-only ad on its YouTube channel that shows reactions from customers at the San Francisco fast food joint, everything from people trying to figure out if there was actually a different, sweeter meat on the bun to one girl crying when she read the wrapper’s message.

The marketing campaign has seen a host of reactions, from an editorial from an Inquisitr writer who was less than thrilled with what he thought was Burger King’s attempt to capitalize on gay pride to Twitter users either praising the restaurant chain or calling for boycotts. The following is a sampling of reactions from across Twitter:
