Desperate Housewives Cancelled, Next Season Will Be It’s Last
Desperate Housewives and it’s residents on Wisteria Lane will be making their victory lap next season as the show’s run draws to an end and the series is officially canceled by ABC.
Speaking to the AP ABC Entertainment President Paul Lee said of the final season:
“I just wanted to make sure that this show that sort of put this network on the map — certainly the new brand of this network for the last six or seven years — had its victory lap. Had a chance to really set out every episode and build an arc for those 22 episodes so that we could say goodbye to this iconic show.”
The announcement didn’t really surprise anyone in the industry as it was already known that show creator Marc Cherry was leaving as show producer next season, while ratings for the former top rated show have been on a drastic decline over the last several seasons.
In an ABC press release the company said the final season:
“will roll out in a way that is accessible even to viewers who may have lapsed in their viewing, and be all the richer and more rewarding for the series’ loyal fans.”
The final season of Desperate Housewives will premiere on September 25 and following each episode will be the networks new thriller Pan Am which they hope will pick up ratings where Housewives have left off.

I did too haha, but remember how that last season kind of just stopped..? I mean what about Gabby's dad, and Bree's boyfriend, and the divorce, AAHHH!

Totally gutted at least it'll have a proper ending unlike brother and sisters in which I can't bring myself to watch the last episode as that is it and there will be so many things left unfinished. My two favourite shows, very sad

I've seen every episode and I'm sad to see it go. My mom and I used to watch it every Sunday night when I was in high school then call each other about it when I started college. :/

WTF? That's sad. What does ABC have now? Most of their shows suck now. I think it's a mistake canceling it and whatever show takes it's place will fail.

I am glad ABC is giving DH "proper" closure instead of just cancelling it like they did Brothers and Sisters. When DH is no longer on ABC, I will be watching other stations instead or picking up a book and reading during the time slot the two shows were in. I have no wish to watch this channel especially after what they did with Brothers and Sisters, All My Children and One Life to Live. ABC had always been a staple in our household and even when I was growing up but now, no more!

I feel like a HUGE part of life is ending when this show goes off the air. When I was in high school this was the "monday" discussion that we would talk about. Shelley C. Taylor-Armwood and I have had many interesting conversations over this show :/

First hearing about the show when I was younger, I had never thought I would like it. Now i'm addicted to catching up to the final season and am so upset to find out this will be the last season! I love the show!
