Doom 4 Beta Keys Still Available To Certain Wolfenstein PS4 And Xbox One Purchases Through May 26

The Doom 4 release date in 2014 or 2015 is still one giant demon-shaped question mark, but now it’s being said that Doom 4 beta keys can still be earned all the way through May 26, 2014.

In a related report by The Inquisitr, we believe Doom 4 should focus on horror instead of just action. After all, both the Dead Space and Resident Evil series have pretty much become action games, and I can’t recall a single game that’s really made me jump in ages. We also took a look at the advancements in graphics technology to see what we might expect from the Doom 4 graphics engine.

The only way to get hold of a Doom 4 beta key is to purchase a copy of Wolfenstein: The New Order, which was just released recently. Although the publisher only hands out copies of the Doom 4 beta to those who pre-ordered a physical copy, it turns out there is a special caveat for those making digital purchases.

This is what they say for the Xbox One and Xbox 360:

“Yes, for a limited time. If you purchase from now until Monday May 26th, your invitation to the DOOM beta will be associated with your user account. You will not receive a code.”

The situation is pretty much the same for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3, except there is one more limitation:

“Yes in North America, for a limited time. If you purchase from now until Monday May 26th, your invitation to the DOOM beta will be associated with your user account. You will not receive a code. In Europe, Sony is not offering the DOOM beta as part of a digital purchase.”

As for the Doom 4 beta release date, this is what id software says at the moment:

“We will be providing more information on the specific content and duration of the beta test at a later time. Timing and availability of future beta programs for DOOM is to be determined by Bethesda in its discretion. The only current way to ensure an invitation is through pre-ordering Wolfenstein: The New Order. We will be providing more information on additional beta tests, if any, at a later time.”

Would you buy a copy of Wolfenstein: The New Order just to get hold of the Doom 4 beta?
