Sophia Loren made an appearance at the Cannes Film Festival — and at 79 years old, it’s clear that the actress has still got it!
According to Mail Online, the Oscar-winner was on-hand to discuss her career at an event this week. With nearly 100 films under her belt, Loren became an international star in the 60’s. Not only is she beloved in the industry, she is also well-respected. It wasn’t always an easy road for Loren, however, and she talked a little about that in her speech.
“They complained that my mouth is too wide, my nose is too long. I was never hired after doing auditions … But bit by bit, cinematographers [learned] how to portray my face on the screen… Life is not easy. Life is very tough especially if you have lived for a long time. [I’m] a very happy person because I have lived. I created a family with children and grand-children. But life goes on and you do get older.”
Sophia Loren was the Guest of Honor of Cannes Classics this year according to The Inquisitr. The Italian actress first attended the festival in 1961 when she was honored with a “best actress” award for her role in Two Women. Since then, Loren has been to the Cannes Film Festival many times — and each time, she has looked fabulous. Although it has been 50+ years since Loren first stepped on to festival ground, she still looks iconic (there really is no other word to describe her) — and she still gets people talking.
Sophia Loren attended the Cannes premiere of Two Days, One Night on the French Riviera and she stunned on the red carpet. According to Express UK, Loren “outshined women half her age” — and she really did. She has aged with such beauty and grace and people can’t help but notice.
“The Italian actress wore a champagne coloured floor length gown adorned with silver studs which also featured slightly see-through sleeves. The outfit had a tasteful neckline that complimented her décolletage and she teamed it with a silver choker necklace. She stopped the look off with a pair of diamond and emerald drop shaped earrings and wore her brunette locks wavy and big.”
Loren walked the red carpet with her director son, Edoardo Ponti (pictured above). The two were all smiles as they walked hand-in-hand, waving, smiling, and even blowing a few kisses to fans. Also on the red carpet was Oscar winner Marion Cotillard, who wore an odd-shaped white dress.
All eyes, however, were on Sophia Loren at Cannes.
