Hunter Hayes Begins His Quest For A Guinness World Record

Hunter Hayes has a very simple mission: Play 10 shows in the span of 24 hours.

The country music star is going to great lengths to promote his sophomore album Storyline. Although the positive reviews it’s receiving should help Hayes sell quite a few copies, he’s not content to let the music speak for itself. Instead, he’s going to put his vocal chords to the ultimate test.

Of course, spreading the word about his latest release isn’t the only reason Hunter Hayes is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for most shows performed in a 24-hour period. According to Buckeye Country, the singer’s exhausting 10-show jaunt is part of his “24 Hour Road Race to End Child Hunger” charity event.

The world record is presently held by the Flaming Lips, though Hayes hopes to change that very soon. Fans who are curious to see how Hunter is holding up can track the singer’s progress on his official website. Unless something goes horribly wrong along the way, Hayes believes he has a shot at beating the aforementioned band’s record.

During his recent chat with MTV News, Hunter explained that he’s avoiding food, drinks, and activities that would wreak havoc on his voice. That essentially means the country music star is avoiding caffeine during this admittedly difficult 24-hour event.

“No coffee. That would be the worst thing, you get even more tired because of it. My goal is to not to talk in between the shows because talking is actually much harder on my voice then singing, apparently. I’m learning slowly, but surely. I’ll learn all the lessons by the end of it,” Hunter explained to the website.

Of course, Hunter Hayes isn’t performing these shows by himself. The singer is also bringing along his band, which means these folks will need just as much energy and fortitude as Hayes. Before they embarked on his journey, Hunter said he took a moment to discuss things with the band.

“I was like ‘Think about it, we are going to do a show in the morning and then we are gonna get to jam all day long.’ It’s not like we are stressing out over 10 shows. We have to make sure it’s fun because that’s the idea. The fans have supported us on this whole thing and it has to feel like everybody’s having fun,” he explained

What do you think about Hunter Hayes’ attempt to break a Guinness World Record for the most shows played in a 24-hour period? Do you believe he will succeed?
