NYPD Busts Facebook Guy Who Allegedly Kicked Stray Cat 20 Feet In The Air [Video]

The Facebook cat-kicker has been found: A Brooklyn, NY man faces charge of aggravated animal cruelty after allegedly kicking a stray cat 20 feet into the air.

This incident came to the attention of the NYPD after a cell phone video of the vicious attack that occurred on Friday was posted to Facebook. Cops used the video to track down the person they believe was responsible.

The gray and white cat, known as King, apparently was a fixture in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood and was friendly and playful with local residents. It disappeared after the kicking incident, however.

As depicted in the footage, the alleged perpetrator and other bystanders seemed to treat the whole thing as a joke. “Andre Robinson, 21, lured the cat closer to him by holding his hand out, like he wanted to feed the feline. But then he attacked it as an NFL placekicker does a ball — and celebrated as if he had made a game-winning kick. The video shows him bouncing gleefully from foot to foot in a depraved parody of an athlete’s victory dance.”

An NYPD source said that “We were able to identify him as part of an investigation behind the video. People who saw (the video) were really disturbed by it.”

At the time of the cat-kicking incident, no one knew what happened to the helpless feline after it was sent flying into the air or whether it was seriously hurt. The good news is that North Shore Animal League rescuers captured the cat today and brought it into an ASPCA hospital to be checked out. If the cat is found to have been injured, the suspect could face a felony charge.

The suspect, 21, reportedly has been arrested eight times previously. He was released without bail and is due back in court on June 9.
