Ed Sheeran Debuts Song at iHeart Radio Awards, About Ellie Goulding?

Ed Sheeran rocked a solid performance on Thursday night at the iHeart Radio Music Awards in Los Angeles, performing acoustic versions of his hit “The A Team” and a brand new song, “Don’t.” Sheeran played his intimate set list at the Hotel Cafe, the first venue Ed played in in Los Angeles, so the performance held a special significance for him. Ed, 23, is about to release his much-anticipated 2nd album, “x” (pronounced ‘multiply’) and seemed eager and excited to share a new song with the world. “Don’t” is rumored to be about former flame Ellie Goulding, who allegedly cheated on Ed at a party.

The lyrics to the song call out exactly what happened:

“Never intended to be next but you didn’t need to take him to bed, and I never saw him as a threat until you disappeared with him to have sex is not like we were both on tour, we were staying on the same f***ing hotel floor.”

Whoa! Sheeran hasn’t confirmed that it’s Ellie in the song (claiming he didn’t want to “tarnish” anyone’s reputation), but instead says that “Don’t” is simply his way of venting about it: “I was very frustrated and angry at the time. Now that I’ve vented about it I feel better, so I’m just kind of leaving it there.”

Looks like the most Ed’s willing to talk about his love life is in his music; Sheeran recently turned down an offer to become the first “verified” celebrity on Tinder, a popular dating app. “I haven’t got time to go on loads of dates,” Ed admits when asked why he declined the offer. “I want to be on radio, and talk about music.” Plus, he thinks using his “celebrity” status on Tinder is a bit creepy. “You’re just using your celebrity status to hook up with chicks,” he says. It’s rumored that lots of celebrities are on Tinder, including Katy Perry and Lindsay Lohan, but they haven’t “revealed” themselves for that very reason – to not use celebrity status to meet new people. Smart move!

Ed’s certainly seems to be keeping busy, as x comes out later in June, and his new single “Sing” is climbing the U.S and International charts. If “Don’t” is any indication, we can’t wait to hear what else is on the album! (We’ve heard rumors of collaborations with The Game and Demi Lovato!)
