Heather Graham Briefly Opens Up About ‘Californication’ Role

Heather Graham recently shared a few details about her role on Showtime’s Californication.

Unfortunately for those who are looking for large and juicy tidbits of info about her role on the long-running series, Graham didn’t offer up too many specifics during her appearance on Today. However, she did provide enough details for viewers to determine which character she will portray.

Since there’s a fair amount of secrecy surrounding the role, Heather Graham said she couldn’t share too many details about her involvement with Californication. However, this didn’t stop the actress from spilling a few beans about the program.

“In the first episode they revealed that David [Duchovny] has a son that he’s never known about… so I’m in the next episode,” Graham teased.

She added, “I’m not actually a mom in real life, so it’s fun to pretend to be one. I like to approach things the same in art as in life. You can choose to look on the positive side and enjoy whatever roles you’re given. You can find the silver lining in anything.”

While Heather Graham’s turn on the Showtime series might come as a genuine surprise to fans, the New York Daily News reports that creator Tom Kapinos approached the actress a while ago about possibly joining the cast. Kapinos reportedly worked many of Graham’s quirks and ticks into the character she plays on the show.

“I love Tom’s writing, and I appreciate that he made Julia really sassy and quirky because in real life I’m definitely sassy and quirky,” she explained.

Graham also had a blast working with Californication star David Duchovny. Heather said, “David’s character is very flirty, and one of the ways he flirts is by trying to make you laugh. This was especially the case in the first few episodes.”

Like most actresses who have enjoyed success in the movie and TV industry, Heather Graham is looking to take her skills behind the camera. The Boogie Nights alum is currently working on a comedy that she wants to shoot in New York very soon.

“It’s a comedy about sex from a female point of view, revolving around three female friends. It’s inspired by things I love, like ‘Sex and the City’ and ‘Tootsie.’ I love comedies that are also smart and about something important,” Graham said.
