Toys Continually Stolen From Grave Of Baby Boy, Police Search For Suspect Caught On Video

A number of toys have been stolen from the grave of a baby boy, and police in Ohio are now searching for the suspect caught on video in the appalling grave robbery.

The parents of the deceased boy, Scott and Jaclyn Sheridan, had put a stuffed yellow duck on their son’s grave site for Easter, but within a few hours a heavyset woman came in and snatched the toy. Police said there have been several items stolen from the boy’s grave over the past few years, including flowers, wreaths, and toy tanks.

Jacyln said the family was distraught last weekend when they went to the grave of her son, Hayden “Tank” Cole Sheridan, who died in 2007. Jaclyn noted that the grave robber seems to be only stealing from them from some reason.

“They’ve stolen solar lights like crazy,” she said, adding that other graves have solar lights that have remained untouched.

“I feel like they are targeting his grave site,” she added. “We should be able to decorate his resting spot and leave things on his grave during the time we’re allowed.”

After Jaclyn reported a series of grave site thefts two years ago, police in Ontario decided to set up a hidden camera in an attempt to catch the thief in action. Though items continued to go missing, police weren’t able to get a clear picture of the suspect — until now.

The Easter Sunday theft showed a middle-age, heavyset woman tucking the stuffed animal under her arm and walking away. After police posted a video of the offender on the department’s Facebook page, the guilty party drove to the cemetery and tossed the duck back over the wall.

The police appealed to the community to find the person stealing toys from the boy’s grave site.

“On April 19, 2014 approximately four to five hours after the family placed a yellow stuffed duck at his grave site for Easter, someone took it,” the department noted. “The family wants the person who did this to be held accountable however they recognize that this person is probably not responsible for all of thefts from ‘Tanks’ grave site. Most of all, the family just wants some assurance that they can leave a night light and a stuffed animal at their son’s grave without someone stealing it.”

Ontario police said anyone with information about who is stealing toys from the grave of Hayden “Tank” Cole Sheridan can send police a private Facebook message.
