Brady Bunch Mom Spills Story of 60’s Crabs From NYC Mayor

Florence Henderson, best known for her role as Mama Brady- the matriarch Carol of TV’s first notable “blended family”- has shared a very un-Brady-like story in her upcoming memoir.

Henderson, 77, was last heard from pitching how-to seminars for old people on the interwebs. But the iconic TV mom says she got caught up in the free love vibe of the 60’s, most memorably with former New York City mayor John Lindsay. Henderson had a brief extramarital tryst with hizzoner, who- it appears- was a bit of a ladies’ man. She explains:

“I was lonely. I knew it wasn’t the right thing to do. So, what did I do? I did it…” Henderson went home later that night, and awoke to a grisly surprise the next day as she saw “little black things” crawling over her bed and body.

An urgent call to a doctor took care of the problem, known medically as pubic lice, and Lindsay sent her flowers and a note of apology.

“Guess I learned the hard way that crabs do not discriminate but cross over all socioeconomic strata,” Henderson writes. “He must have had quite the active life. What a way to put the kibosh on a relationship.”

Henderson’s book, Life is Not a Stage, comes out in September.
