‘Boy Meets World’ Spin-Off ‘Girl Meets World’ Shows Debut Teaser [VIDEO]

The hype for the Boy Meets World spin-off, Girl Meets World received a major boost when the first teaser was officially released.

Since last year, news about a potential spin-off from Boy Meets World has flooded the internet. Some fans took it with a open heart while others took it with disdain. Nevertheless, as more information was shown, fans of the original series, which made its debut back in the 90s, were looking forward to see if the spin-off would withstand the strict requirements of fans.

According to Buzzfeed, the trailer features a very fatherly Cory Matthews, who is played by Ben Savage, scolding his daughter Riley, who is played by Rowan Blanchard. Riley’s best friend Maya will represent the “New” Shawn Hunter. At the end of the trailer, we get to see Topanga, played by Danielle Fishel, who is still married to Cory.

There will be numerous other appearances from the original cast of Boy Meets World including William Daniels, who is best known for playing George Feeney, the teacher for Cory, Shawn, and Topanga. Also, according to 101.3 The Bounce, the show will air on the Disney Channel this coming summer.

The only uncertainty about the upcoming spin-off is the inclusion of Rider Strong, who played Shawn Hunter on Boy Meets World. According to a report here on The Inquisitr, Rider Strong may not reprise his role as Shawn on the upcoming spin-off. This is very peculiar because Shawn is Cory’s best friend. It would make sense to have Shawn Hunter on the show unless they want to take that friendship in a different direction.

As of now, the premise of Girl Meets World is best described by the description given on the Internet Movie Database:

“A decade after Boy Meets World, Cory and Topanga Matthews are married and have two children. The younger child, a daughter named Riley, faces life lessons through her family, friends, and school, as her parents did when they were younger.”

Let’s just hope that the new main character, Riley, will be featured well since it is a show about Cory and Topanga’s daughter and her coming into the world. There have been many shows featuring a specific character from a previous show, and they are shoved back as secondary-tier. Family Matters is a prime example. The show was supposed to star Jo Marie Payton, who played Harriet Winslow. Apparently, Harriet was a very popular minor character on Perfect Strangers resulting in a spin-off of her character. However, fans remember Family Matters mostly for the boy who popularized, “Did I do that?”, Steve Urkel.

Right now, Girl Meets World does not have an official premier date.
