Michigan Doctor Body Recovered – Teleka Patrick Remembered
The body of Michigan doctor, Teleka Patrick, was recovered on Sunday in a lake in Porter, Indiana. The Michigan doctor went missing on December 5, 2013, leaving behind only a broken down vehicle on the side of the road to hint at what might have happened. The nearby lake had been central to the police investigation, but a covering of ice must have hindered the finding of the body before now, despite attempts at breaking through the ice and using sonar equipment to locate the body. In a related report by The Inquisitr, Kalamazoo County Sheriff Richard Fuller said that no sign of trauma or foul play had been found on the body of the Michigan doctor. An official cause of death will be released pending toxicology reports.
A first year psychiatry resident doctor at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Teleka is remembered by Laura Eller, a spokeswoman for Western Michigan University’s medical school, as being “highly intelligent” and well-liked by peers.
“Outwardly, all signs pointed to [Teleka] being a very, very good resident. We have a process for selecting residents for training and… she met or exceeded those standards,” Eller said.
Other reports shed a not-so-competent light on the late Michigan doctor. She has been accused of stalking gospel singer Marvin Sapp, who in fact filed a protection order against the doctor. Teleka’s ex-husband told The Detroit Free Press that he believes she suffers from mental illness which includes paranoia and delusions.
Following the recovery of the body of the Michigan doctor, family and friends have started a Facebook page called “Remember Teleka”, renamed from the former “Find Teleka”. This page is rife with heartfelt, emotional feelings for the young Michigan doctor. The Patrick family recalls their daughter as someone who shared a bright and caring smile. “She was beautiful, intelligent, and God-fearing. Teleka’s death is not the ending we had hoped for, however, the journey does not end here. As we mourn Teleka, we must also honor her; honor the life she led, honor her kind spirit and… devotion to God and others. Teleka had a passion and zest for life and no matter the circumstances that led up to her death, we are certain that she would not have taken her own life. Many questions remain, but what is certain is that we will love her forever and her legacy will continue to live on in the love we show to others.”
The latest post from the family is in thanks to all those who have been praying, and affirms that in the midst of these tragic events surrounding the finding of the body, they put their faith in God to see them through. “God is ever faithful and we will continue to trust in Him and praise Him in spite of our sorrow.”
Although the long search has ended in tragedy, hopefully the recovery of the body of the Michigan doctor will bring closure to the Patrick family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to them.
