Fred Phelps Dead Soon? Westboro Baptist Church Denies Death Rumor
Will we see Fed Phelps dead soon? The Westboro Baptist Church has officially responded to the deathbed rumors and claims they are false.
In a related report by The Inquisitr, earlier reports claimed the Westboro Baptist Church had Fred Phelps excommunicated last year for reasons unknown. Phelps’ son, Nathan, apparently is not in direct contact with his father but he claimed via a Facebook post that the situation was dire for the founder of the WBC:
“I’m not sure how I feel about this. Terribly ironic that his devotion to his god ends this way.Destroyed by the monster he made.I feel sad for all the hurt he’s caused so many. I feel sad for those who will lose the the grandfather and father they loved. And I’m bitterly angry that my family is blocking the family members who left from seeing him, and saying their goodbyes.”
Westboro Baptist Church spokesman Steve Drain confirmed that Fred Phelps was admitted to Midland Hospice in Topeka Kansas. But he also denies that he’s about to die and instead claims Phelps is suffering from the maladies of the elderly:
“I can tell you that Fred Phelps is having some health problems. He’s an old man, and old people get health problems.”
Still, Drain did not confirm or deny whether Phelps was excommunicated as is rumored:
“We don’t discuss our internal church dealings with anybody.”
Nathan Phelps left the Westboro Baptist Church 37 years ago. Another son, Mark, is also estranged from his father due to the cult-like activities of the church, but he claims some of these reports are “accurate.” They claim that after the WBC had Fred Phelps excommunicated he “basically stopped eating and drinking” so the elderly man was moved out of the church into the health facility.
Already, people on Twitter are responding to these rumors by making tweets about Fred Phelps’ last words. While some are just jokes others are hoping the founder of the Westboro Baptist Church may do or say something that may help undo a lifetime of actions:
