Bettie Page dies aged 85

Former model Bettie Page has passed away after being admitted to a Los Angeles hospital last week.

Page came to prominence as a pinup model in the late 40’s and 1950’s specializing in specialist shots such as BDSM, and was hailed by many as leading the sexual revolution of the 1960s. She fell into obscurity after finding god and serving time as a missionary in Africa, but became a cult favorite in the 80s as a new generation rediscovered her work.

A picture based on her life “The Notorious Bettie Page” was released in 2005.

Later in life Bettie battled depression and spent several years in a mental institution. She was 85.
