Chris Pine Busted For DUI After Attending Wrap Party In New Zealand

Chris Pine is the latest Hollywood celebrity to add DUI to his resume.

The Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit star was reportedly hanging out in New Zealand earlier this month when the incident took place. New Zealand Police recently confirmed that a 33-year-old American — presumably Pine — was operating a vehicle while his blood-alcohol level was over the legal limit.

According to E! Online, Chris Pine was attending a wrap party for the motion picture Z for Zachariah when he decided to knock back a few drinks. Instead of using the transportation provided at the event, Chris opted to hop behind the wheel of a car.

“Given that the matter is now before the court police will not be releasing any further information,” authorities said in a recent statement.

Although officials refused to confirm that Chris Pine was the guy they arrested during a routine check near the town of Methven, most outlets seem convinced that the Star Trek alum is the actor authorities busted for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Even outlets such as The Hollywood Reporter attempted to get official confirmation that Chris was arrested for DUI. However, police don’t seem willing to give out that information to anyone as of this writing. However, reports suggest that Pine will appear in Ashburton district court on March 17.

Blue Pub Methven manager Casey Crawford told The New Zealand Herald that Chris Pine and other folks associated with the upcoming sci-fi flick Z for Zachariah headed to the watering hole to celebrate the end of production. According to Crawford, the party finally wrapped up at around 3 am on March 1.

“Chris Pine arrived here and had his supermodel girlfriend (Iris Bjork Johannesdottir) with him and he spent most of his time with her, she flew in that day someone told me,” the manager told the publication.

He added, “You can see the photos behind the bar with our staff and he looked fine, I only ever saw him drinking tap beer and his partner she was just drinking sav wine.”

Although several news organizations have attempted to contact Chris Pine and his representatives for comment on the situation, apparently he’s yet to officially weigh in on the arrest.

Directed by Craig Zobel, Z for Zachariah tells the story of a 16-year-old girl who survives a nuclear attack on her hometown. Pine co-stars in the flick alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor and Margot Robbie. The movie should hit theaters in 2015.
