Chris Brown And Rihanna’s Troubled Relationship Mocked On ’22 Jump Street’ Trailer

Everyone knows about the troubled past between Chris Brown and Rihanna, so when 22 Jump Street decided to poke fun at it, many were not pleased.

It’s all the buzz on social media and some find it in poor taste that the abuse Rihanna suffered at the hands of her then boyfriend Chris Brown is being made light of in the new trailer for the Channing Tatum and Johan Hill film.

“We’re like a power couple,” Tatum’s character says, to which Hill’s replies, “We’re like Rihanna and Chris Brown. You’re a good dancer and sometimes you’re meaner than I’d like you to be.”

Chris Brown is still suffering the consequences of his abusive behavior toward Rihanna in 2009 for which he was sentenced to five-years of probation and six-months of community service.

The singer is still committed to rehab for anger management and has been involved in several violent incidents following his assault on Rihanna.

For Chris Brown, 2013 was a tumultuous year as he attempted to put his life back together again. There were at least three separate incidents in which he or someone in his party were accused of inflicting injury to others.

In January 2013, Chris Brown was involved in an altercation with Frank Ocean — who he allegedly punched — over a parking space outside a recording studio in West Hollywood. Later in July, his probation was revoked after he was allegedly involved in a hit and run in Los Angeles.

No charges were filed, but 1,000 additional hours of community service were added to Chris Brown’s original sentence for assaulting Rihanna.

At the same time Chris Brown and Rihanna got back together in 2013, which she confirmed saying:

“When you add up the pieces from the outside, it’s not the cutest puzzle in the world. You see us walking somewhere, driving somewhere, in the studio, in the club, and you think you know. But it’s different now. We don’t have those types of arguments anymore. We talk about shit. We value each other. We know exactly what we have now, and we don’t want to lose that.”

In January of 2014 Chris Brown — who is still committed to rehab — got a day-pass from the facility to meet with his lawyers and he used it to host a Super Bowl party, which was a violation of his agreement with the clinic. He and Rihanna are no longer together.
