Iranian Warships Intend To Send Message About Nuclear Weapons And Israel?

The Iranian warships steaming toward American waters are allegedly intended to send a political message to the United States.

In a related report by The Inquisitr, this is not the first time this has happened. Back in 2011, Iranian Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari claims Iran’s warships were ordered to keep an eye on the “arrogant” US. But nuclear tensions have been rising and Admiral Afshin Rezayee Haddad claims the recent naval maneuvers are intended to tell us something:

“Iran’s military fleet is approaching the United States’ maritime borders, and this move has a message.”

While the exact message was not made clear this announcement happened to coincide with Iran’s nuclear program inspectors being kicked out of the Parchin military base. This happened just nine days before negotiations between Iran and the rest of the world were scheduled to begin. In addition to the Iranian warships, state television also broadcast a documentary simulating a nuclear weapons attack on Israel and they even claimed “having a nuclear bomb is necessary to put down Irsael.” The only good news is that Iran also agreed to release information about their alleged nuclear energy program to the United Nation’s International Atomic Energy Agency.

So it would seem the Iranian warships are just another round of military posturing. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran, claimed the United States would love to overthrow Iran’s government:

“American officials publicly say they do not seek regime change in Iran. That’s a lie. They wouldn’t hesitate a moment if they could do it.”

Because of such beliefs, Iran has been working hard since 1992 to build a self-sufficient military program that does not rely on outside help, like with the Russian-made S-200 air defense system, or on military defense contractors. Iran has been manufacturing its own tanks, armored personnel carriers, missiles, radars, boats, submarines, and fighter jets. In interviews with Iran’s military leaders they have said they believe future wars will be fought primarily on the air and sea.

Unfortunately, while Russia has largely support Iran over the years the good news is that they can’t compete with the United States’ naval might. The United States has 10 aircraft carriers, with the USS George H.W. Bush being the last of the Nimitz supercarrier lineup, which can carry 85 aircraft. Starting in 2015, the United States will launch the Gerald R. Ford as part of the Ford class of aircraft carriers.

The United States has also said they will be flexing this military might in front of the Iranian warships:

“Freedom of the seas doesn’t just apply to fish. It applies to all maritime nations, all navies, everywhere — so long as they understand the responsibilities which come with that freedom. So if they chose to send their ships to the Atlantic, I’m sure they won’t be surprised to find many, many others already there.”

What do you think should be done about the Iranian warships heading toward the US border?
