There might be a good reason you don’t see Robin Thicke and Miley Cyrus together in public these days. According to recent reports, there’s a little green monster living beneath the “Blurred Lines” singer’s skin.
The pair made headlines last year during the MTV Video Music Awards, an event that found the former Hannah Montana star twerking up a storm while Thicke rocked a Beetlejuice-inspired suit. Although the singers both found themselves in the spotlight following the performance, it was Cyrus who saw her career blasting off into the stratosphere.
According to the folks at Us Weekly, Robin Thicke is extremely jealous that Miley has enjoyed all sorts of success following their stint at the VMAs. Of course, all of this juicy information arrived courtesy of an anonymous source. In other words, who knows if there’s any truth to these rumors.
Whenever Thicke heads out to events these days, he reportedly makes sure to avoid any contact with Miley Cyrus. The insider recently told the website that Robin feels that his VMAs partner took the performance a little too far. Now he doesn’t want anything to do with her.
“Robin is jealous Miley’s career took off after that. He thinks she hijacked the performance,” one anonymous source explained.
Another celebrity informant said Robin Thicke and Miley Cyrus both attended Clive Davis’ pre-Grammys party last week. Although the pair were reportedly seated just a few tables away from one another, apparently they didn’t exchange any pleasantries.
Once again, it’s hard to tell if there’s any truth to these reports. Since you can find all sorts of unsubstantiated celebrity gossip on the internet with every click of your mouse, it’s difficult to put much faith into reports that come from these anonymous sources. “They told me [beforehand] that Miley’s going to take her clothes off and dance around and she might bend over. Everybody knows who I am now because I let Miley Cyrus twerk in front of me on the MTV awards. I spent my whole career playing it safe, being a gentleman, never doing anything controversial,” he explained.
Of course, Thicke stirred up plenty of controversy on his own long before he took the stage alongside Miley. His hit single “Blurred Lines,” which was recently named Song of the Year by Playlist, generated a healthy amount of criticism for its racy video and raunchy lyrics. Twerking with Cyrus seems pretty mild in comparison.
