Natalie Dormer Debuts Shaved Head From ‘Mockingjay’ Role


Natalie Dormer debuted a new shaved head at the 2014 SAG Awards, and though it was her role in The Hunger Games that brought about the close-cropped look Dormer said she plans on keeping it.

“The hair department of Mockingjay did it and I love it,” she told E! News, referring to her role as Cressida in the upcoming The Hunger Games films. “A little trepidation but I was excited.”

Dormer joins a number of other Hollywood leading ladies who have cut of their hair for the sake of a role. In 2012, Charlize Theron was spotted in Cape Town in her native South Africa with her blonde hair chopped off. The actress sported the look for her role in Mad Max: Fury Road.

In August, Dormer was named to the cast of Mockingjay Part 1 and Part 2, the films based on the the final two books of the Hunger Games trilogy by Susan Collins.

The 31-year-old Dormer plays Cressida, the resident director from the Capitol who turns the revolution into a reality television event with Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) as it star.

Natalie Dormer has plenty of other projects keeping her busy. She also plays the modern version of Irene Adler in the CBS re-imaging of Sherlock Holmes, Elementary. She is also famous for a pair of medieval roles, playing Margaery Tyrell in Game of Thrones and Anne Boelyn in The Tudors.

Fans won’t have to worry about her character Margaery Tyrell showing up with a punk ‘do when Game of Thrones returns, however. Natalie Dormer to wear a wig for the role, so the actress said she may keep the close-cut look permanently.
