‘Better Call Saul’ To Stream On Netflix

The complete first season of the Breaking Bad spinoff Better Call Saul will stream on Netflix in the US and Canada after the season finale airs on TV.

In Latin America and Europe, Better Call Saul will be available on Netflix just after it is broadcast in the US.

Breaking Bad is widely recognized as one of the great TV experiences in this new golden age of television,” Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos said. “It has also proven very popular with Netflix subscribers around the world. This spin-off promises to continue its tradition of powerful storytelling.”

Sarandos added, “We are proud to be in business with Sony Pictures Television to bring Saul Goodman to our subscribers around the world.”

President of Sony Pictures Television Steve Mosko added, “Coming off of the overwhelming success of Breaking Bad, we’re excited to continue our collaboration with Vince, as well as Peter Gould, and that fans around the world will be able to embrace Saul.”

Last month, Peter Gould, who created the Saul character, hinted that the spinoff could be a courtroom drama. Gould said he had been spending a lot of time in courtrooms for research and, although Saul is a lawyer, none of Breaking Bad‘s episodes ever showed him in a courtroom. Instead, most of his meetings with Walt and Jesse took place in his office in a cheap strip mall.

Better Call Saul may also be a hybrid series of sorts, part sequel and part prequel. Bob Odenkirk said he told Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan and Gould that “a lot of people do want to see what happens next to Saul.” But at the same time, fans want to know how Saul became who he was before he met Walt and Jesse.

No matter which direction the spinoff goes on, Gilligan has said that he would love to find a way to bring Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul into the series. Other characters from Breaking Bad could find their way into Better Call Saul as well.

“Personally, I’d have a hard time resisting putting all these guys in for a cameo or two every now and then,” he said.

AMC has yet to set a premiere date for Better Call Saul, but it is tentatively scheduled to air sometime between next August and October.
