Erin Burnett Gives Birth To Baby Boy On Black Friday
Erin Burnett got a lot more than presents this Black Friday.
The CNN anchor gave birth to her first child with husband David Rubulotta, delivering the baby boy the day after Thanksgiving.
The couple welcomed the baby at 9:47 on Friday, November 29, Us Weekly reported. He weighed in at 8 pounds 10 ounces,
Erin Burnett said she was quite overwhelmed by the emotion of the moment.
“Seeing him for the first time was the most awe-inspiring, joyful moment of our lives,” the 37-year-old first-time mom told Us Weekly.
Last year Burnett got married to Rubulotta, a Citigroup executive, in a small ceremony in New York’s City Hall. The couple was married by a justice of the peace, a little more than a year after getting engaged.
The couple celebrated with friends afterward at the Atlantic Grill, and People magazine noted that Burnett planned it to coincide with her the holiday season.
“Christmas is our favorite time of year,” Burnett said. “We thought it would be the perfect time to get married.”
“I was overflowing with joy to have those I love together,” she added of the reception.
Burnett first met Rubulotta on a blind date in 2003. Rubulotta had been a trader for Lehman Brothers, and is not a finance executive and managing director at Citigroup.
The relationship has added fodder to critics who believe Erin Burnett is too strong her pro-business views. She was criticized for a segment in 2011 that mocked Occupy Wall Street protests, for example. Media watchdog groups claimed that Burnett was purposely inaccurate in the report in an attempt to paint the protesters and the movement in a negative light.
But the couple has moved on, undeterred. Back in June, a representative from CNN confirmed that Erin Burnett was expecting.
“I can confirm that Erin Burnett and her husband David Rubulotta are expecting their first child in November,” the rep told Us Weekly at the time. “They are both very excited.”
Erin Burnett was an anchor at CNBC from 2005 to 2011, then jumped to CNN to host OutFront.
