Cava-Poo-Chon: Three Breeds Combined To Create ‘Perfect Dog’

Cava-Poo-Chon dogs are being marketed as perfect pets. The fluffy little dogs were created by crossbreeding the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Bichon Frise, and Toy Poodle. The result is a 10-15 pound dog which is portable, mild-mannered, and hypoallergenic.

The designer dogs are the work of Steven and Linda Rogers. The couple owns Timshell Farm in Arizona, where they specialize in cross-breeding Golden Retrievers, Poodles, Bichon Frise, and Poodles.

To create their newest “tribrid,” the Rogers’ consulted with a reproductive veterinarian and a geneticist. The resulting triple-cross hybrids are being touted as “the perfect dog.”

As explained at TimeShellFarm.com, Cava-Poo-Chons have a fluffy coat, which rarely sheds. The Rogers’ explain that “low-to-no-shedding coats” are preferred by dog lovers who suffer with allergies or asthma.

In addition to the preferred coat, the dogs were bred to have friendly dispositions, higher intelligence, and fewer ailments. However, the new breed’s most interesting feature is their appearance.

The tiny dogs have a rounded face and large eyes, giving then a “teddy bear” look. As reported by Metro, the designer dogs retain their “puppy look” through their entire lives.

Dog trainer Steve Haynes said there is an increasing demand for perpetual puppies:

“There’s always been a market for these forever-ish young dogs. Until recently, specialized dogs like miniature Yorkies and miniature Maltese were the go-to dogs.”

Linda Rogers said that although the dogs remain small and cute, they are bred to be strong and healthy. She said they have a lifespan of approximately 20 years.

Designer dogs usually come with a hefty price tag, and Cava-Poo-Chons are no exception. The fluffy little pups sell for an average of $3500.

While the dogs are admittedly adorable, they are not recognized by the American Kennel Club as an official breed. Some experts have dismissed tiny designer dogs as “gimmicks,” which only function to increase profits.

Despite the criticism, Cava-Poo-Chon dogs are increasing in popularity. As pet owners search for “the perfect dog,” breeders are motivated to be creative.
