Don Draper and his Mad Men Get Renewed For Several Seasons

Mad Men fans have reason to celebrate today, Don Draper and his group of Mad Men will return to AMC for at least two more seasons. Show producers announced on Thursday that the show will air for at least fifth and six seasons. It’s also expected that the show will run into a seventh season.

Show creator Matt Weiner said in a statement:

“I want to thank all of our wonderful fans for their support. I also want to thank AMC and Lionsgate for agreeing to support the artistic freedom of myself, the cast and the crew so that we can continue to make the show exactly as we have from the beginning. I’m excited to get started on the next chapter of our story.”

Seventh season talks arose when Matt Weiner announced that he has signed a three year deal with Lionsgate and AMC which would push the show forward for yet another year.

Weiner went on to tell Deadline.com after signing his contract:

“These will be the last three seasons,” while adding, “I’m going to take it one year at a time without the distraction to ever have to go through this again. I’m incredibly grateful for the the outpouring of support and overwhelmed that I get to finish telling the stories I want to tell.”

Hopefully the new contract agreement means all the show firings and salary fights will come to an end and fans can focus on enjoying the series.
