Bisexual Teenager Kicked Out Of Home By Parents Receives $20,000 From Strangers

A bisexual teenager who was kicked out of his home by his parents, who even went as far as too leave his belongings on the front yawn, has received $20,000 from strangers to help him find a new abode.

The parents of 18-year-old Nick, who is a freshman at Kennesaw State University, found out about his sexual orientation via a family friend, and they then decided to not only remove their house of his possessions, but they also took his car too. They also allegedly took Nick’s savings too, which he had gathered from his part-time job.

Nick was then taken in by Steve Bevers, whose mother-in-law works alongside Nick, and he then set up a crowd funding page for him too. Since it was launched on October 22 it has seen thousands of donations which have now reached over $20,000.

Bevers told the Huffington Post, “When I heard about what happened to Nick I was flabbergasted. I couldn’t understand how a parent could do that. While I’m sure there are multiple sides to the story, I just was amazed. I was hurt. The first thing I asked was, ‘Does he need a place to stay? Does he need some money?'”

Bevers’ GoFundMe page looked to build up support for Nick, stating, “[Nick] has felt that the people most responsible for loving and protecting him through anything have turned their backs and don’t care where he’s sleeping, or how he’s going to feed himself.”

It then added, “We’re working to show Nick that he is loved, even by strangers. That the horrible acts of some people will not be enough to stop him, and that with the help of people everywhere, he can get through this.”

Bevers and Nick were shocked to find that in just a few days, $12,000 had been raised by 400 people, and Nick then decided to upload a video explaining the details of his ordeal, while also revealing why he didn’t tell his father and stepmother.

Nick noted, “This whole thing started when my stepmom caught wind of me being bisexual. I don’t know where she got her information from, but I know it wasn’t from me. She didn’t like that and neither did my dad. I got told some very vulgar and disgusting things… That’s why I didn’t tell them, because I wasn’t ready. And I didn’t tell them for the exact reaction I was scared about, and that’s exactly what happened.”

Bevers has added that his faith in humanity has been restored by the success of the GoFundMe page, while Nick is now looking to register for the spring semester of school, and he also hopes to buy a new car too. He also admitted that those people who donated money to him have “pretty much saved” his life.
