Katy Perry: Nude Stars Like Miley Cyrus Slammed As Too Naked

According to Katy Perry, nude stars like Miley Cyrus need to put a shirt back on and stop overusing the “sexy card.”

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Daniel Radcliffe admitted a massive crush for Katy Perry.

During an interview with NPR, Katy Perry said too many female celebrities are purposefully going naked nowadays:

“Like females in pop – everybody’s getting naked. I mean, I’ve been naked before but I don’t feel like I have to always get naked to be noticed.”

Katy Perry would rather be known as an inspiration rather than as a role model because she’ll eventually “let you down because [she’s] a human being.” Katy Perry also says she doesn’t want to be seen as “judging” anyone. When the NPR host asked if Katy Perry was referring to photos and videos of Miley Cyrus nude she didn’t want to name any names:

“I’m not talking about anyone in particular. I’m talking about all of them. I mean, it’s like everybody’s so naked. It’s like put it away. We know you’ve got it. I got it too…. I’m just saying sometimes it’s nice to play that card but also it’s nice to play other cards. And I know I have that sexy card in my deck but I don’t always have to use that card.”

Miley Cyrus in particular has become well known for overusing the sexy card. Miley Cyrus’ nude wrecking ball video was intentionally planned out and Cyrus claims she’s doing it only as a business strategy, not necessarily because she enjoys being nude everywhere.

Katy Perry isn’t the first star to sound this warning. Avril Lavigne said nude photos of her are unlikely since she prefers her own fashion and doesn’t want to use the sex card to further her career. Sinead O’Connor tried warning Miley Cyrus that the music industry was “prostituting” her for money. But Miley Cyrus did not heed the advice and instead lashed out, causing Sinead O’Conor to threaten a lawsuit.

Still, some people might say Katy Perry is being hypocritical. Esquire filmed Katy Perry topless not too long ago in 2010. Then there’s Katy Perry’s nude body suit from one year ago, although she had the decency to be embarrassed. More recently, Katy Perry’s GQ photo shoot could be said to use the sexy card. Never mind that the Teenage Dream album cover showcased Katy Perry nude.

Do you agree with Katy Perry that nude pop stars and the sexy card is being overused?
