Robot Gymnast Stuns Internet With Impressive Routine [Video]

The robot take over hasn’t started just yet but when it does we should all watch out for crazy ninja robots. A robot gymnast shocked the internet this week with an impressive triple back flip routine and nerds around the world are now worried about the fighting capabilities of these little machines.

The robotic gymnast hasn’t mastered the art of Tai Kwan Do yet but it has mastered the high bar release.

The robot, which seems to be named Robot No. 17, does a Kovacs triple backlip in the video. Kovacs, if you don’t know (I didn’t) is a gymnastics term for a high bar release named after Peter Kovaks (see the video below).

Of course, when Kovacs was doing his twists on the high bar he probably never thought that his moves would be copied by a robot.

The video above shows Robot No. 17 grabbing onto the bar, building up momentum, then releasing the bar and doing a flip, catching the bar, then launching itself up into the air for a triple backflip. The robot makes a perfect dismount but I do have one criticism: Where’s the bow? If you’re going to design a robot to perform an awesome routine you’ve got to add a little bow and a wave.

Here’s the original Kovacs.
