Just because Zac Efron is living a clean life doesn’t mean he gets to miss out on the biggest night in Hollywood. The actor reportedly had some much needed fun during the Oscars, and just to make sure he didn’t get into too much trouble the actor brought along his sober coach for the evening.
According to RadarOnline , Zac had no problems with bringing along his sober coach. It was a precaution for the actor and one that was seen as a personal necessary step to make sure he was on track. According to the site, a source elaborated on Efron’s fun-filled night .
“Zac had a sober coach with him the entire time he was at Dolby to monitor what he was doing and to make sure he didn’t partake in any substances like drugs or alcohol.”
The source continued to explain just how Efron was monitored on a night that could have been a personal struggle to keep clean.
“The coach was there to escort him to the bathroom or backstage, anywhere he needed to be where temptation might arise.”
The fact that Zac Efron brought a sober coach to the awards ceremony shouldn’t come as a huge surprise. While promoting his film That Awkward Moment , Efron was extremely open about his sober living and how much his life has changed after he checked himself into a rehab facility earlier in the year.
Speaking to Today’s Savannah Guthrie Efron said :
“I’m in the best place I’ve ever been. I’ve never been this happy before. I’m extraordinarily grateful for these guys and to be here promoting this movie. I don’t know. Things are good. I don’t know. Thank you for asking.”
When the news broke that Efron had gone to rehab, TMZ had reported that multiple sources stated the problem at hand wasn’t alcohol, but instead it was for a serious cocaine addiction. This all came to a head during Efron’s shooting schedule on the Seth Rogen film Neighbors . At the time Efron’s rep said, “Don’t think we’ll be making a comment.”
It’s good to hear that the star has left that lifestyle behind and is focusing on his very promising future as an actor, and as a substance free person.
The actor started out very young in the business, which can often lead to debilitating problems growing up under such a large microscope. Efron is primarily known for his Disney work on the High School Musical franchise.
