X-Men actor James McAvoy talked about his experience with X-Men: Days of Future Past , and hinted at the possibility of doing Wanted 2 .
James McAvoy has certainly made the rounds in his acting career thus far, with X-Men: Days of Future Past still in the works, and such films as Wanted , The Last King of Scotland , and Atonement under his belt. Welcome to the Punch is currently in theaters, and Trance is on the way on April 5.
On Welcome to the Punch , James McAvoy says:
“I was drawn to Welcome to the Punch by the director. I just responded to the fact that there was a British filmmaker trying not to do gritty urban drama about gangsters that talk with slang all the time … Also getting to play somebody who was slightly less [likable] was good fun. And then Trance … the character was so messed up, [he] really really did appeal to me.”
Of course, James McAvoy’s apparent love for being the bad guy also applies to such films as Filth , where his character was described as a racist, homophobic, misogynistic, all-around bigot .
Since doing X-Men: First Class , James McAvoy took some time off to raise his kids, and then learned to balance his acting career a bit more. He’s open to the big ones like X-Men , but he will also do lower-budget independent films. It keeps him busy, but he’s happier with that particular mix.
James McAvoy told Samantha Highfill of Entertainment Weekly what to expect from X-Men: Days of Future Past :
“I think it’s different because it’s melding two franchises, kind of the new blood and the old blood, which will be exciting in itself. I think that it does what X-Men movies always do really well, which is take a large amount of characters and it makes room for them all rather brilliantly. … there will be some surprises as well. I think they’re going to be nicely surprised by a couple of things.”
One of those things we may be surprised about is James McAvoy possibly sporting some 70s fashion, and a rumored scene where the two Charles Xaviers actually meet. You really can’t get a better meeting of the minds, unless of course Jean Gray meets herself.
James McAvoy said he would be willing to do a Wanted 2 if such a thing existed, good or not. He said he had a blast making the first one, but for now, Wanted 2 is just a rumor, as there isn’t even a confirmed script yet. And like the rumor about Nightcrawler being in X-Men: Days of Future Past , it may prove to be false. Nobody knows for sure at this point.
How do you feel about the possibility of James McAvoy of X-Men: Days of Future Past possibly doing Wanted 2 ?
