Snowmobile rider Caleb Moore was seriously injured in an X Games crash earlier this week in Aspen .

Moore spent the weekend in the hospital and is currently in critical condition.

His grandfather, Charles Moore, told the Denver Post that he didn’t think Caleb would survive.

Moore told the Denver Post :

“Caleb is not doing good at all … The prognosis is not good at all. It’s almost certain he’s not going to make it.”

A spokesman for the family also released a statement.

Chelsea Lawson said on Monday night :

“Caleb is in critical condition and is being closely monitored … The Moores want to express their gratitude to all of Caleb’s fans, friends and family for their strong support and ask for continued prayers in the coming days. The family will not be making any other public statements for the time being. Thank you for respecting the family’s privacy during this difficult time.”

Moore, 25, was in the middle of a flip at the X Games when his front ski clipped the top of a jump. Moore flew over the handlebars and the snowmobile fell on top of him. Moore was able to walk off the course but was later taken to the hospital with a concussion. It was later revealed that Moore had a heart injury as well as complications with his brain.

If Moore does not survive the X Games crash it will be the first time in 17 years that someone has died at the Winter X Games.
