Brock Lesnar is a legit bada** in the world of professional wrestling.
While you shouldn’t bet on him against any of the current UFC heavyweights, the WWE roster is another story. No one could conceivably take him in a mano-y-mano fight, especially the guy tasked with the duty at WrestleMania 31 , Roman Reigns.
So with that knowledge and the fact that he’s heading into the company’s biggest PPV under questionable contract terms, how should you book the guy? What ways make sense?
I wrapped my head around that problem after listening to the latest episode of the Steve Austin Show podcast, and here’s what I came up with.
If Brock Lesnar Stays
Keep the current Vince McMahon heat angle going.
Whether he and Brock are at each other’s throats or engaged in a clever work — as Court Bauer contemplated on the podcast — make the news coverage work for you.
Force us to question whether Lesnar will show up at all. Then, shortly before March 29, make an announcement on RAW or SmackDown that Brock has cut off contact with WWE. This would essentially force the company into making a main event of Mr. Money-In-The-Bank, Seth Rollins, and the Royal Rumble winner, Roman Reigns.
Fans wouldn’t be turned off by this main event because it would be two brothers from The Shield going head-to-head.
Then, near the end of the match, have Lesnar come out and destroy both men, leaving WrestleMania 31 with the title over his shoulder.
The next night on RAW (which Lesnar is contracted for, by the way), Lesnar could announce that he has decided to stay. Because he disrupted the match causing it to end in a no-contest, the Authority could then place him in a Fatal Four-Way at the next PPV against Rollins, Reigns, and the winner of the Andre the Giant 30-man battle royal.
If Brock Lesnar Leaves
Go ahead with the Brock-Roman match, but have Lesnar pull out the victory after Reigns gives him a fight. Then, have the opportunistic Seth Rollins attack immediately following the match and win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
The next night on RAW , bring out a furious Brock, who announces that this is his last night in WWE, but he’s not leaving without payback. Make a point of keeping “the Lesnar smirk” off Brock’s face.
Then, throughout the episode, have Lesnar pursue a terrified Seth Rollins throughout the building, finally cornering him at the end of the show and laying down utter devastation.
Send out several Authority cronies to pull him off. Have Brock trash those guys, too, and then, on his way out, he turns one last time to the audience. The camera zooms in. And he gives us the smirk. The End.
