The WWE Universe, rather the Internet Wrestling Community, has a problem with Roman Reigns. When the WWE pushed him to the moon for his main event at WrestleMania 31 , the Internet Wrestling Community had a problem with that. They don’t like it when WWE forces stars down their proverbial throats, whereas that section of the WWE Universe enjoys stars going over organically.
Sometimes, wrestling has a funny way of doing both. The Great Khali was a great example of who the WWE wanted to succeed, but even a giant like Khali just didn’t work. Before the U.S. Open Challenge, the IWC was mad over the fact that John Cena was being pushed down their “throats.” Despite being successful and popularity across all platforms of entertainment, the IWC felt that Cena was forced.
Not many realize that the WWE is a business, and they have to keep making money. If they don’t, ECW’s fate would turn into their fate. Roman Reigns may be the person to take over for John Cena as the company’s top babyface. The IWC, as a whole, won’t take kindly to that fact. However, Reigns is popular with the WWE Universe, and those outside of the community.
As an entertainment company, having someone popular in multiple demographics is key. The Rock and John Cena are those men. Rock became a Hollywood star, and Cena is on pace to be a TV star. Roman Reigns has that potential. He also has the potential to be the WWE World Heavyweight champion at WrestleMania. According to Cageside Seats, Roman Reigns is being pushed to the top for WrestleMania 32 .
“Plans are full speed ahead for Roman Reigns to win the WWE title as a babyface at WrestleMania 32. Barring a major change, he’ll win the belt in Texas next Spring, and any heel turn would be after that.”
Reigns didn’t learn of his loss at WrestleMania 31 until the night before. When the report says that anything can change at anytime, take that as solid advice. In August, Reigns reacted to his loss at WrestleMania 31 and couldn’t have given a better answer.
“It was terrible… It was right there, I was right there. I climbed the mountain, I felt the top, I was looking down and I got pulled right off of it. In a matter of moments. That Seth Rollins , that was his job and that’s what he did. He had the Money In the Bank briefcase with a contract he could cash in at any time and what a perfect time — let the animals take each other out and pick the bones. That’s what he did. But I did something too…”
This interview was done in his character, but the loss didn’t affect the former-WWE Tag-Team champion. Roman Reigns has proven that he’s a company guy and is willing to do whatever he can to enhance the product. If he were as egotistical as Goldberg, then Reigns wouldn’t have wrestled at WrestleMania 31 . It’s fair to think that Reigns would’ve left the company.
Luckily, Reigns is nothing like Goldberg, so he’ll be around for a long time. Just like John Cena, Reigns puts the WWE before himself. At Hell in a Cell , Reigns will wrestle Bray Wyatt for the last time in a cell. It will conclude their extended feud, which has been a success. On WWE Raw, the team of Strowman, Wyatt, and Rowan faced Rollins, Ambrose, and Reigns.
The Shield reunited for the first time since their break-up over a year ago on WWE RAW . It was a fantastic main event, which saw Reigns stand tall. At WrestleMania 32 , it’s very probable that Roman Reigns will stand tall as the WWE World Heavyweight champion.
